Visa and Consular Affairs
Consular Affairs aims to facilitate the implementation of foreign students' affairs (such as Educational/Student Visa, Residency Permit, Extension of Residency, etc) through contact with the International Students Organization of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. In order to coordinate and comply with consular rules, knowledge of relevant principles and rules is essential for all non-Iranian students and they are expected to be aware of the relevant laws and act accordingly.

Educational Visa
Students wishing to study at Urmia University are required to enter the country with an Educational visa (E Visa). For this purpose, applicants who have been accepted to the University of Urmia are required to submit the following documents to the Consular Office of International Relations Office of Urmia University.
It is imperative that students pay attention to the expiry date of their passport and to replace it six months before the expiry date. Upon the issuance of the Visa Grant Form, the applicant will be notified by email to visit the Iranian Embassy or Consulate in the country concerned to collect their student E visa within the deadline set out in the said Form.
Required Documents and Workflow of Educational Visa (E-Visa):
Note 1: Please note the deadline for applying for a student visa as of the date listed on the Visa Grant Sheet.
Note 2: Passports valid for less than 6 months will not be processed.
Note 3: Make sure to include the student’s email address and WhatsApp number accurately because the student visa is sent to these addresses.
Note 4: Immediately after receiving a student visa, students need to refer to the consular post (Iranian embassy or consulate in the home country) as stated in the visa file to receive the original of their sealed visa, and visit the university.
Note 5: After arriving in Iran on a student visa, please note the one-month residency application deadline.
Note 6: If you do not apply for a residency within the timeframe mentioned above, apply for a student visa extension.
Note 7: It is required when picking up the visa from the consulate of the home country and also when entering Iran, the information of the student visa must be registered in the relevant systems.
Students who have entered Iran with a study visa must apply for a residency permit after finalizing their registration at Urmia University. For this purpose, international students are required to submit the following documents to the Consular Office of International Relations Office of Urmia University and refrain from leaving the country during the process of issuing a residency permit. It is noteworthy that the residence is issued for one year.
Required Documents and Workflow of a One-year Educational Residency Permit:
Note 1: The residency permit should be collected in person from the Consular Office of the university after approximately one month.
Note 2: The residency permit applicant is not allowed to leave the country after visiting the university and completing the application for a residency permit until receiving the one-year permit.

Note 1: According to the regulations of the Immigration and Passport Police of Iran, each international student has the right to leave the border (Exit Iran) 4 times a year.
Note 2: According to the regulations of the Immigration and Passport Police of Iran, each international student has the right to stay in his home country for only 3 months every time he exits Iran, otherwise his visa and residency permit will be canceled.
