Department of Geography

The field of Geography was established in 2005 at Urmia University and from the same year it admitted students for undergraduate courses. First, students in the bachelor's degree program in Meteorology, Geography, and Tourism Planning were admitted, and then in the master's degree program in Land Management, Medical Geography, and the Geography of Sacred Defense. Currently, the Department of Geography of Urmia University is training students in the fields of Bachelor of Meteorology and Political Geography, Master of Geography and Landscaping Planning and Geography of Sacred Defense. This group consists of 9 faculty members with different specialties, of which one is a professor, one is an associate professor and the rest are assistant professors. There are workshop and laboratory of map reading, GIS, remote sensing, various extracurricular communications and various educational programs that have made the Department of Geography as one of the most active and prominent groups of Urmia University. There are currently 60 undergraduate and 159 undergraduate students.
